AraC-NLS

"This part consists of AraC, the regulatory protein of arabinose operon, and the nuclear localization signal (NLS), together regulating the behaviors of the arabinose promoters, of which in our project, pAra.1, pAra.2, pAra.3, pNOTAra.1 and pNOTAra.2.

In the presence of arabinose, the transcriptional factor AraC will regulate the transcription controlled by the arabinose operon through either positive regulation or negative regulation. Meanwhile, the introduction of NLS, a type of signal peptide, allows the karyophilic protein to get into the cell's nuclear without itself being cleaved.

This part inspires the kill switch design of our project by the diversed function of arabinose operon that can accomplish a versatile design of gene regulation. "
